It is already November, but in my mind it doesn’t feel like autumn at all. Well, in Finland November is actually already winter month and in some places in Finland there is already snow at the moment.
I actually feel like I’m stuck in July – still wearing my summer clothes, it is warm outside. But it is November and the weather in here are starting to be perfect – sunny and warm but not too hot anymore. And the evenings after sunset are just perfect!
Daily life is going as usual
Our daily life is going on the same tracks – wake up at 6 am, prepare the kids lunches and snacks, get the kids to school.
I take my time every morning after taking the kids – I take the dog for morning walk (if my husband hasn’t already taken him) and then I eat my breakfast and drink my coffee in my own peace – and I enjoy it.
It is usually pretty noisy at our home when we are all home and I enjoy silent moments. And I think I deserve to enjoy a little bit of my own time when I am home alone – well not alone alone, I always have Kaapo the poodle with me ❤
Then I do all kinds of house chores – cleaning, washing the clothes etc. I am also looking for some work opportunities and looking into all kinds of side hustles that I could be doing.
Starting to like these new daily routines
To be honest I have never been a morning person and I am still not. I hate to wake up when the alarm goes of at 5.50! But without all the stress of me getting ready to go to workplace it has starting to be nice to wake up the kids with hugs and prepare their snacks to school. And we drive past this one camel farm every morning and they are so cute! It is the favorite moment for me and the kids in the mornings.
And right after I think I’m starting to like this, the kids start to fight about something and I get frustrated. But that’s what it is 😅
Getting back the love of cooking
Many many years ago I loved to gook! Always modifying the recipes and creating my own ones. When our first child was born I decided that they are going to eat everything. I didn’t want them to be picky with the food. And for the first years it worked as I planned – they were eating everything I gave to them.
But then they grew and started to develop their own taste – and here I am. Almost every time I make us some food there is someone whining: “Why do we have to eat this”, ” I don’t like this” or “Do I have to eat this”. And that is frustrating! I begun to hate making food.
But now I have these 4 days in a week when I am home alone at lunch time and I can cook whatever I want! I enjoy so much trying new vegetarian lunches. And I enjoy to eat that without no one whining about the food 🤣
First visit at a vet in Dubai
Our poodle Kaapo turned just 6 years old last month – sweet little poodle ❤ But he started to have some peeing problems, he pees a little pit when sleeping. Not very nice…
So I contacted our nearest vet, which is luckily in our community, so no long trip to there. I was so surprised about the service in there, so good service and really looking into this problem, everything was tested in two days and then we got the medicines. And the price was not at all that expensive that I thought it would be, really reasonable – again, compared to Finland.
So now Kaapo is okay, no peeing in his sleep anymore. Turned out to be a little problem that was fixed with drugs.
Beach party, kittens and new friends
At the end of September there was a Beach party at the Malibu Beach. Good music and free popcorn and cotton candy for the kids. It was a great day with the kids and the Malibu beach were full of people, all having a fun day.

There has been cute furry little visitors at our yard for a while now. Few little kittens has been playing here and our kids have been playing with them and taking care of them by giving them food and water. Sometimes they are all sleeping on our front door, looking so cute.
These kittens have brought children from our neighbourhood to our yard and so our kids have been getting new friends. They have started to spend so much time outside with other kids which is just great.
Dubai Finnish-school
In Dubai there is this Finnish-school. It is run by volunteers and they have one hour lessons every Monday to kids. It is meant to support kids to keep learning Finnish language and the Finnish culture that they are learning in home. In there kids have also an opportunity to meat other Finnish kids living in Dubai.
Last Monday me and the kids went there to see how the lessons are and today I am starting to teach there. Our kids are joining to the class, having a opportunity to meet other kids from Finland. I cannot wait!
So the winter is coming but I am stuck in July with this weather. Let’s see how messed my head will get in next month when Christmas is here. Outside it is sunny and warm but in the house there will be all the Christmas decorations.
